Letter of IHC Judges
Earlier on Tuesday April 26, six judges of IHC wrote a letter to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) and demanded that they fully support the position of Justice Retired Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui to conduct an investigation. If the independence of the judiciary was being interfered with, who were they to undermine the independence of the judiciary. Who supported them? All should be held accountable so that this does not happen again. There is no guidance in the Code of Conduct for Judges on how to report such a situation.
Full Court Session/Meeting of PM and CJP
The Chief Justice of Pakistan had called a full court meeting twice on the issue of the letter of the judges of the Islamabad High Court. After the first full court meeting, the Prime Minister and the Chief Justice had a meeting. The meeting was followed by another session after which a declaration of a full court meeting was issued which said that executive interference in judicial functions would not be tolerated.
