IHC orders to let Bushra Bibi, Imran Khan meet on Eid

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered the meeting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb of IHC heard the request of Bushra Bibi to be transferred from Bani Gala Sub Jail to Adiala Jail and to meet Imran Khan.

Public Advocate Abdul Rahman and Director of Islamabad Administration appeared in the court.

The court ordered that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi should meet on the occasion of Eid and one day a week.

Hearing on Adiala Jail transfer appeal

Meanwhile, a hearing was held on Bushra Bibi's transfer request from Bani Gala Sub Jail to Adiala Jail.

During the hearing, the public prosecutor informed the court that on the order of the court, Director Law has visited Bani Gala sub-jail and submitted a report.

The court directed the public prosecutor to provide a copy of the report to the petitioner.

The Islamabad High Court remarked that the officer who visited Bani Gala Sub Jail was satisfied with the facilities.

The court expressed indignation on the report of Adiala Jail and Chief Commissioner for not transferring Bushra Bibi to Adiala Jail and not meeting Imran Khan.

Justice Miangul Hassan, after seeing the report, remarked that this is all politics happening in the court, Mr. Abdul Rehman.

He further remarked that 141 women entered the jail after the sentence on January 31. You used to say that the jail is 'overcrowded', you mean only politics should happen. The community thinks that imprisonment in Bani Gala is charity.

The court remarked that on the one hand it is being said that the space is less space and more are the prisoners. On the other hand, 141 women have been entered, when new women entered the jail, then the justification for not transferring them was lost.

Justice Miangul stated that you could not satisfy the court, you should call your Chief Commissioner and Advocate General, you are determined to bring the index of Rule of Law to zero.

He added that why are you standing here, let call the people of Punjab, you should try to protect your superintendent from contempt of court proceedings, your position was rejected by Bench No. 7, there the senior law officer of Punjab appeared.

Justice Aurangzeb remarked that the meeting of the accused on the hearing date is not a meeting, it is a hearing. A meeting means a regular meeting in separation, you escaped by saying a meeting during the hearing of the case.

The court inquired how the government can declare someone's private property as a sub-jail. Meanwhile, calling for arguments on the next hearing, the court adjourned the hearing of the case for an indefinite period.
