CM Maryam presents cheque worth Rs3.8m to deaf cricketers
The players of the deaf team also present the Dubai World Cup Trophy to Maryam Nawaz.
Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Friday extended a heartfelt invitation to the Deaf Cricket Team, which has maintained an unbeatable record for 19 years, to the CM Office.
Upon their arrival, the team received a warm reception, with the Chief Minister personally greeting them and joining them among the players.
Maryam Nawaz, impressed by the remarkable abilities of the deaf cricket players, engaged with them using sign language.
In a gesture of appreciation, the deaf cricketers spelled out the names of Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The Chief Minister presented a cheque worth 3.8 million rupees to the players, subsequently raising the gift amount for each player from 200,000 rupees to 500,000 rupees.
Responding to the demands of the deaf cricketers, the Chief Minister promptly ordered the allocation of a separate ground for their use and directed measures to facilitate their recruitment into government departments in Punjab.
As a token of gratitude, the players presented a golden lion statue to the Chief Minister, who, along with other attendees, applauded to encourage them. The team also presented the Dubai World Cup Trophy to Maryam Nawaz.
Further, upon the players' request, the Chief Minister arranged a group photo session and individual pictures with them. Promising to facilitate a meeting with Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz expressed her admiration for the team's perseverance over the years, emphasizing that their physical challenges never hindered their remarkable achievements.
Maryam Nawaz expressed her pride in the team's accomplishments, urging them to continue their progress with determination. She underscored her commitment to fulfilling development projects for the welfare of the people in the coming years.
The deaf cricketers, expressing profound joy, thanked CM Maryam Nawaz for the invitation and conveyed their heartfelt prayers for her.
Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Azma Bokhari, Former Senator Pervaiz Rasheed, MPA Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary, Secretary Sports, and other officials also attended the event.
