Burewala: The rickshaw drivers who deliver Ramadan packages door to door in Punjab are deprived of full payment.
The rickshaw drivers hired for the distribution of Ramadan Nigehban Package (ration) launched by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Borewala have not yet been fully paid.
The drivers staged a protest outside the Press Club on Monday over non-payment. They claimed that arrears of Rs4.1 million are yet to be paid.
The protestors said that they are starving in their homes due to non-payment of rent, Eid preparations are also incomplete.
According to the rickshaw owners, the Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) had procured 2412 rickshaws for 22 days and is paying only Rs2072 per day rent.
On the other hand, Secretary RTA has taken the position that the funds have been exhausted and will make the payments if more funds come.
