PML-N's wrong decisions cost country's economy $20 billion loss, Finance Minister
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance Shaukat Tareen has said that wrong decisions of PML-N have caused a loss of $20 billion to the national economy and artificial depreciation of the rupee has led to a historic current account deficit.

Addressing a virtual press conference with the Minister for Energy and Special Assistant to the Finance Minister in Islamabad, Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen, while responding to the PML-N's pre-budget seminar that the PML-N in a press conference claimed that GDP growth went up from 3.7 to 5.8 per cent but “we have to see on what basis the economy improved during the PML-N era,”
Federal Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen has said that Imran Khan has suffered from the economic mistakes of Ishaq Dar.
According to GNN, the finance minister sharply criticized the previous government and said that what Ishaq Dar did was borne by the present government.
Shaukat Tareen said that the previous government had left the economy on the brink of disaster. He alleged that the previous government had not planned power projects. "We are tired of paying capacity payment," he said.
He thought that there was no COVID in the PML-N era while the current account deficit was due to artificially withholding of rupee while the wrong decisions of PML-N caused a loss of $20 billion to the economy.
Shaukat Tareen said that there was a current account deficit of $20 billion during the PML-N regime. "Our goal is to increase tax revenue by 20% every year," he said.
Federal Finance Minister said that FBR personnel would not be able to harass anyone. "Our goal is not to impose more taxes," he said.
In the previous period, the economy was improved by taking loans, he maintained.
He claimed that next year the growth rate will be 5%.
