Names of PTI leaders including Murad Saeed’s removed from ECL
The cabinet has approved the decision on recommendation of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Islamabad: The federal government removed the names of several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including Murad Saeed, from the Exit Control List (ECL) , the sources privy to the development said on Monday.
The decision, approved by the federal cabinet, came on the recommendation of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The notification of their removal from the ECL was sent to relevant authorities.
Those whose names were lifted from the ECL include Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Ghulam Sarwar, Parvez Khattak, Shafqat Mahmood, Ijaz Shah, Ali Zaidi, Khusro Bakhtiar, Azam Swati, Asad Umar, Omar Ayub, Mehboob Sultan, Fawad Chaudhry, Farog Naseem and Shireen Mazari.
However, the names of PTI founder Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, Farahat Shahzadi known as Farah Gogi and Zulfi Bukhari remained on the list.
The inclusion of PTI leaders' names on the ECL was based on a request by NAB in connection with a case related to the Al Qadir University Trust, which allegedly caused a loss of 190 million pounds to the national exchequer.
The accusations involved adjustment of Rs50 billion, equivalent to 190 million pounds, received from Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) by the former prime minister and others.
The Trust for Al-Qadir University Project was registered by the PTI chief on December 26, 2019.
