Lahore: National cricket team captain Babar Azam Monday said that all our focus is on winning the World Cup.
While addressing a presser in Lahore, he stated: “What happened in the past happened, earlier we could not win the trophy, but this time we have confidence and belief that we will bring the trophy”.
He stated that the players are talking to each other about how to win the World Cup.
Aamir Jamal will take some time, he will learn as much as he plays, Amir has performed well in T20 cricket, added Babar.
The captain further said that there was pressure on Haris Rauf to return, but he recovered quickly.
Talking about Muhammad Haris, Babar Azam added that Muhammad Haris' number is top order and there are many players in the top order. Haris got a chance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) but he could not perform like that.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is giving us a lot of confidence, he talks to us, stated Babar.
“Discussions are going on with our coach Gary Kirsten, we don't have any individual goals, we will play as a team and unite and give results,” he said.
The captain further said that they are not only planning against Virat Kohli, but they will plan against the entire Indian team.
To the question regarding Hassan Ali, he said that Hassan has been included as a backup, the selectors have cleared him, he has experience.
The captain further stated that we are hopeful, hope should always be there, we want to win the match and give happiness to the nation, cricket unites Pakistan, and everyone is on the same page.
Answering a question, he also added that there are not 200 runs in every match, the condition has to be considered, no player was abused in the selection.
