Lahore: Sardar Saleem Haider Khan was sworn in as the new governor of Punjab on Friday.
Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan administered the oath to the newly appointed governor at a ceremony held at the Governor's House.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and other dignitaries were among the attendees of the swearing-in ceremony.
President Asif Ali Zardari last week approved the appointments of Saleem Haider, Faisal Karim Kundi and Jaffar Khan Mandokhail as governors of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, respectively.
According to a statement issued from the President’s Office, the head of the state accorded his approval based on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s advice in accordance with Article 101 (1) of the Constitution.
