Islamabad: The federal government has taken notice of the unauthorised publication of sensitive and confidential information.
Taking strict notice of the open display of confidential documents on social media platforms, the government has decided to take action under the Official Secrets Act against those disclosing confidential information and documents.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that the spread of such information may harm Pakistan's strategic and economic interests, and there is a possibility of serious damage to relations with friendly and brotherly countries.
Khawaja Asif stated that the government has decided to register cases under the Official Secrets Act 2023 against all these people.
The Defense Minister added: “Strict action will be taken against those directly or indirectly involved in disclosing or disseminating secret information or documents, punishable by two years’ imprisonment and penalty”.
