FIA summons PTI’s top office-bearers over misuse of Imran Khan’s X account
The post involved Hamoodur Rahman Commission Report
Islamabad: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned three PTI leaders in connection with a controversial post on the X account of jailed PTI founder Imran Khan.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Secretary General Omar Ayub and party spokesperson Raoof Hasan have been summoned to probe the issue involving content against the state institutions.
According to the FIA notices issued on Friday, an inquiry has been initiated regarding the “misuse” of Imran’s verified X account through which “highly obnoxious and inciting content against state institutions” was shared.
They said the post was “likely to cause fear or alarm in the public and may induce/provoke anyone to commit an offence against the state or state institution or public tranquillity”.
On May 26, a video was shared on Imran’s official account along with a quote attributed to him: “Every Pakistani should study the Hamoodur Rahman Commission Report and get to know who was the true traitor, General Yahya Khan or Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”
The post created unrest especially in the government ranks.
