Two-thirds of the sentence completion and good conduct are mandatory for commutation and release


Lahore: Punjab Interior Department prepared a summary to lessen the sentence and release of prisoners on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
The summary prepared by the Home Department will be presented to the Cabinet for approval.
According to officials, male prisoners above 70 years of age, female prisoners above 60 years of age and women incarcerated with children below five years of age who have completed two-thirds of their sentences will benefit.
The officials stated that two-thirds of the sentence completion and good conduct are mandatory for commutation and release.
On the other hand, Interior Secretary Punjab Noor-ul-Amin Mengal visited the Central Jail Lahore where he inspected the jail kitchen, hospital, prisoner barracks, and industrial and vocational center.
Interior Secretary Punjab directed that food should be provided to the prisoners as per the rules of hygiene.
