Pakistan will face New Zealand in the semifinals of the Nations Cup hockey tournament on Saturday.


Pakistan was defeated by France in the last group match, but the national team qualified for the semi-finals based on scoring more goals in the Nations Hockey Cup,
In the ongoing Nations Cup hockey tournament in Poland, Pakistan lost against France in the third group match after a sensational match. The national hockey team scored five goals against six of France. Rana Abdul Waheed, Abu Bakr Mehmood, Abdul Hanan Shahid, Abdul Rahman and Murtaza Yaqoob scored one goal each on behalf of Green Shirts.
However, Pakistan qualified for the semi-finals based on a better goal average than Malaysia, while France had already qualified for the semi-finals.
It is pertinent to note that Pakistan scored a total of 17 goals in the three matches of the group, 11 goals were scored against the national team.
Earlier, the national hockey team tied the match 4-4 against Malaysia during the Nations Cup, and had an incredible 8-1 win against Canada.
