Green shirts set 160-run target for US

Dallas: In a major upset, the US beat Pakistan in the Super Over to win the second consecutive match on Thursday. Americans gave Pakistan a target of 19 runs to win in the Super Over, however, the Green Shirts could only score 13 runs.
Pakistan earlier set a 160-run target for the United States in the ongoing 11th match of the T20 World Cup 2024 clash.
Earlier, the US chose to field first against Pakistan after winning the toss. The match is being played at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas.
The US won the toss against Pakistan and elected to field first.
The Green Team scored 159 runs in their opening game of the T20 World Cup in Dallas on Thursday against the United States.
Both teams made 159 in their regulation 20 overs, with non-Test nation the United States then setting Pakistan 19 to win in the Super Over.
Pace bowler Saurabh Netravalkar held his nerve as Pakistan, runners-up at the 2022 T20 World Cup and champions in 2009, only managed 13-1 in reply.
Pakistan were restricted to 159-7, with India-born left-arm paceman Netravalkar taking a miserly 2-18, after being sent into bat in their first match of the tournament.
The United States innings ended in dramatic fashion when Nitish Kumar hit a four off a last-ball full toss from Haris Rauf as the tournament co-hosts, who beat Canada in their opening match, finished on 159-3.
Pakistan veteran Mohammad Amir was entrusted with the Super Over but bowled several wides with panic fielding, that led to wild overthrows, also helping the United States score 18 runs.
Netravalkar bowled a wide with the third ball of his Super Over but next delivery he had Iftikhar Ahmed brilliantly caught low down in the deep by Kumar.
And with seven needed off the last ball, Shadab Khan was unable to manage the six that would have forced a second Super Over.
Nosthush Kenjige was the pick of the bowlers for the US side whereas Skipper Babar Azam was the top scorer for Pakistan with 44 runs.
After being put into bat on a tough pitch, the Greenshirts were 21/3 in the fifth over, losing Mohammad Rizwan (9), Usman Khan (3), and Fakhar Zaman (11), before Babar Azam and Shadab Khan steadied the innings.
The duo added 72 runs for the fourth wicket before Shadab Khan was dismissed for 40. His wicket opened the floodgates once again, as Pakistan lost Azam Khan (0), Babar Azam (44), and Iftikhar Ahmed (21) in quick succession.
