ICC T20 World Cup 2024: South Africa qualify for Semi-finals by beating England
South Africa had set 164 runs target for England which could score 156 runs at Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium
Gros Islet: England captain won the toss and chose to field first against South Africa in the crucial Super 8 stage match of the T20 World Cup held at the Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium.
Batting first, South Africa scored 163 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Quinton de Kock was the standout performer, scoring 65 runs off 38 balls. Other contributions included Reeza Hendricks with 19 runs, Heinrich Klaasen with 9, and Aiden Markram with 1 run, while David Miller played an innings of 43 runs.
For England, Jofra Archer took 3 wickets while Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid each took one wicket.
Both teams had previously won one match each in the Super 8 stage. South Africa defeated the USA in their first Super 8 match, while England triumphed over the West Indies. The winner of today’s match would qualify for the semi-finals.
