Islamabad: The Founder Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan approached the Supreme Court for early hearing of the pending appeal against his disqualification.
In the petition filed by founder PTI's lawyer Ali Zafar, it has been requested to schedule the appeal filed against the disqualification of the PTI founder for an early hearing.
It has been stated in the petition that cases against the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) are pending in Islamabad and Lahore High Courts.
Barrister Ali Zafar's petition also stated that due to disqualification, Imran Khan can neither be elected as a member of the assembly nor chairman PTI. Due to pending appeal, he cannot participate in by-elections. If possible, the court is requested to fix the pending applications for early hearing.
It is pertinent to note that the founder PTI Imran Khan filed an appeal against the disqualification in the Supreme Court on January 10, 2024.
