Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, formally signs the Finance Bill


Lahore: The Punjab Assembly on Wednesday completed the approval process for the budget of the upcoming fiscal year.
Provincial Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman presented the Punjab Finance Bill in the house, which was passed by the assembly. The Punjab Assembly approved the budget of 5446 billion rupees for the fiscal year 2024-25 by a majority vote.
Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, formally signed the Finance Bill.
After the approval from the Punjab Assembly, the Finance Bill 2024 was sent to the Governor of Punjab, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan.
Nadeem Qureshi Raises Electricity Bill Issue
During the session, Assembly Member Nadeem Qureshi raised the issue of increased electricity bills. He highlighted that if a consumer uses 200 units, the bill is 3000 rupees, but using 201 units results in a bill of 8500 rupees.
Nadeem Qureshi demanded that the Punjab Assembly should present a resolution to the federal government addressing the increase in electricity bills. The Speaker of the Punjab Assembly directed the opposition member to bring the demand in the form of a resolution.
Subsequently, after the completion of the agenda, the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly adjourned the session until 2 PM the following day.
