NAB last year in December had filed a corruption reference against Imran Khan, his wife, and seven others in relation to the Al-Qadir University project

Rawalpindi: An accountability court on Tuesday granted bail to Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in the £190 million National Crime Agency (NCA) settlement case.
Judge Muhammad Ali Waraich of the Special Accountability Court approved her interim bail request.
During the session, the court heard testimony from three witnesses and scheduled additional testimonies for the next hearing, which has been adjourned to July 5.
In December 2023, NAB filed a corruption reference against Imran Khan, his wife, and seven others in relation to the Al-Qadir University project.
Imran Khan established the Al-Qadir University Trust on December 26, 2019.
Earlier, in May, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted bail to Imran Khan regarding the same £190 million NCA case. The decision was made by a two-member bench, including Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, who instructed the authorities to release Khan on a surety bond of Rs1 million.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) began investigating Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and others for allegedly obtaining hundreds of canals of land for the Al-Qadir University Trust, resulting in a loss of £190 million to the national exchequer. The charges suggest that the accused misappropriated Rs50 billion, equivalent to £190 million at the time, which was sent by the UK's National Crime Agency to the government.
