National Drug Survey to be conducted after 11 years in Pakistan
Mohsin Naqvi directed to finalize the matters related to the survey within 15 days
Islamabad: The national mission to save the new generation from drugs, the National Drug Survey will be conducted in the country after 11 years.
A meeting of the Committee for National Drug Survey was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister Interior and Anti-Narcotics Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Secretary Interior, Secretary Planning, Additional Secretary Finance, Special Secretary Health, Director General (DG) Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) participated in the meeting.
On this occasion, Mohsin Naqvi said that under the National Drug Survey, the data of drug users will be collected across the country which must be comprehensive and authoritative. Accurate survey data is of real importance and will be beneficial.
In the survey, it has also been directed that apart from homes, data will also be collected from educational institutions, slums, and other places as well.
He said that only through an authentic and comprehensive survey, full and detailed decision-making in the field of anti-narcotics will be possible. There will be no compromise on anti-narcotics because it is the issue of the nation's future.
Mohsin Naqvi directed to finalize the matters related to the survey within 15 days.
The Interior and Narcotics Control Minister said that the ANF and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics should jointly work out the methodology, nature of data required, sample format, and timeline for conducting the survey. International development organisations should also be contacted for cooperation in conducting the survey.
It is pertinent to note that the last National Drug Survey was conducted in 2013.
