Attaullah Tarar says an app will also be launched, enabling people to keep track of the trees they plant


Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has urged different segments of the society to actively participate in tree plantation campaigns in order to safeguard the future of coming generations from the challenge posed by climate change.
Participating in a tree plantation campaign organized by Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad today, he said the government is committed to the cause of tree plantation and bringing improvement in the air quality. He stressed that our survival is linked with trees. We should take tree plantation seriously as a national duty and take this campaign to the level of educational institutions.
Attaullah Tarar said Margalla National Park is the identity of Islamabad and it is our collective responsibility to protect it from all hazards.
The Information Minister asked the television channels to dedicate some airtime to encourage tree plantation, emphasizing its importance as a social cause.
Attaullah Tarar said that an app will also be launched, enabling people to keep track of the trees they plant. This will allow them to better care for their trees.
The Information Minister said responsibility rests with the major contributors of carbon emission to support Pakistan in dealing with the challenge of climate change. He pointed out that Pakistan only contributes two percent of the carbon emissions but is one of the most affected countries by climate change.
In her remarks on the occasion, Coordinator to PM on Climate Change Romina Khurshid Alam emphasized the need for greater coordination amongst various departments to carry forward the plantation campaign in a successful manner.
DUBAI: Prominent Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was arrested at Dubai International Airport on Monday and taken to Bur Dubai Police Station.
