Technical glitch caused disruption to WhatsApp service in Pakistan: PTA
A significant number of users across Pakistan have encountered difficulties in sending and receiving media files such as voice notes, photos, and videos through WhatsApp while using mobile networks
Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Tuesday addressed the ongoing issues affecting WhatsApp services for cellular users in the country, suggesting a potential "technical glitch" as the cause.
According to a recent 2024 report by the World Population Review, Pakistan boasted 52.3 million WhatsApp users.
The disruptions persisted, with Downdetector, a global platform monitoring website and application issues, continuing to receive reports of WhatsApp outages in Pakistan over the past 24 hours.
Starting from July 20, a significant number of users across Pakistan have encountered difficulties in sending and receiving media files such as voice notes, photos, and videos through WhatsApp while using mobile networks.
The users reported instances where media files either fail to download promptly or do not download at all. Some users have received error messages from WhatsApp stating, "Couldn’t download the document. Try again. If the problem keeps happening, try connecting to Wi-Fi."
