Apex Committee excepts demands of Bannu Peace Jirga
Meeting clarifies that that no military operation is currently ongoing in the province
Peshawar: The Apex Committee of KPK on Thursday agreed on most of the demands of the Bannu Peace Jirga during a meeting chaired Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur .
Participants included the Peshawar Corps Commander, Chief Secretary, IG Police, and members of the Bannu Jirga.
A joint statement was released condemning terrorists and ordering action against them. The Chief Minister instructed the police to arrest any armed non-governmental persons involved.
The police were directed to take action against the offices of armed groups without discrimination. It was clarified that no military operation is currently ongoing in the province; actions against terrorists will be taken by the police and CTD.
In areas near the border where police cannot act, the army will assist. Police were instructed to ensure constant patrolling.
Additional support will be provided to the entire province, especially the southern districts, using existing personnel and vehicles. New positions will prioritize southern districts, and the CTD will take action in suspicious areas and madrassas.
