Monsoon rains lash Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad
Met Office has predicted more rain in different parts of the Punjab
Lahore: Heavy downpour started lashing Lahore and parts of Punjab on Sunday as fifth spell of monsoon system has entered in country last night.
Under the influence of this spell, many parts of the Punjab have been reported to receive moderate to heavy rain, disrupting life in many districts’ low laying areas.
In Lahore, the torrential and intermittent rain started at 10:20 am, persisting for two hours and affecting various parts of the city, reported the Water and Sanitation Agency.
WASA informed that till 11:41am the maximum rain was recorded 72mm at Gulshan-e-Ravi, followed by 68mm at Qurtaba Chowk, 65 Lakshmi Chowk, 57 Jail Road.
The rainfall has also impacted other districts across the province. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported that Gujrat received at least 52 mm of rain during this period. Likewise, heavy rain lashed other districts; Rawalpindi, Attock, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Nankana, Sheikhupura.
This spell of rain is predicted to continue till July 31.
