City District administration efficiently cleared water from key locations of city


Lahore: The Maryam-led Punjab government on Thursday announced that all rainwater had been successfully drained from the provincial capital. All civig agencies came forward to drain out rainwater on the special instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
A spokesperson confirmed that the district administration efficiently cleared water from key locations including Lakshmi Chowk, Services Hospital, Shah Jamal, Nabha Road, Ek Moriah Pul, Qartaba Chowk, Minar Pakistan Road, and the basement of Railway Station Services Hospital. Major roads like Nabha Road, GPO, Railway Station, Empress Road, Cooper Road, and Shah Jamal have also been cleared.
In addition, significant progress was made in draining water from Chauburji, Waris Road, Lytton Road, Qartaba Chowk, Ek Moriah, Gaddafi Stadium, Tikka Chowk, Allah Ho Chowk, Sabzi Mandi in Allama Iqbal Town, Lakshmi Chowk, Rasool Park, Ali Block, Bhati Gate, and Karim Park.
WASA MD Ghufran Ahmed has directed all town directors to ensure a thorough sweeping of their areas and to address all ponding points in streets and neighborhoods.
Despite the efficient response, heavy rains since morning had caused considerable difficulties for Lahore residents due to water accumulation.
Rainfall data recorded significant amounts: 360 mm at the airport, 214 mm at the head office in Gulberg, 248 mm at Lakshmi Chowk, 218 mm at Upper Mall, 227 mm in Mughalpura, 260 mm in Tajpura, 312 mm in Nishtar Town, and 262 mm at Chowk Nakhuda.
