Interior minister says this policy will be implemented soon
Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday announced that Pakistan will soon implement a visa-free entry policy for Iraqi citizens.
A high-level Iraqi delegation, led by Rapid Response Unit Commander Lt. Gen. Dr. Tahamir Ismail, visited the Ministry of Interior Affairs, where they were welcomed by Minister Naqvi.
During the meeting, both parties discussed various topics, including mutual interests, visa-free entry for Pakistanis into Iraq, and enhancing facilities for visitors.
The discussion also covered the training of Iraqi police in Pakistan and cooperation on the Safe City project. Both sides agreed to increase collaboration to curb illegal immigration and human trafficking.
The Iraqi delegation extended an invitation to Interior Minister Naqvi to visit Iraq. Minister Naqvi emphasized the need for immediate measures to implement the proposal of visa-free travel to Iraq. He expressed hope that the Iraqi government would soon make a conclusive decision on this matter.
Minister Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to providing visa-free entry for Iraqi citizens, which will be implemented soon. He also assured full support for the training of Iraqi police and the Safe City project.
Lt. Gen. Dr. Tahamir Ismail mentioned that discussions with the Director General of Passports would address visa-free entry for Pakistani visitors to Iraq.
The Iraqi delegation included Brigadier General Aqeel Kazim, Brigadier General Abdul Hussain, Muhammad Sohail, and others. Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Ali Agha and Managing Director of the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation Brigadier Muhammad Asim were also present at the meeting.
