Islamabad: Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Wednesday unveiled major progress in discussions and talks with Jamaat-e-Islami.

The minister said that the both sides reached agreement on most of the issues.

“Some matters have been finalized in writing, and a follow-up meeting is scheduled for tomorrow,” said Attaullah Tarar.

In a media briefing, Tarar highlighted that the discussions with Jamaat-e-Islami have been constructive, and the Prime Minister's agenda includes reducing electricity prices. He noted that electricity consumers using up to 200 units have been given a 50 billion rupee subsidy for the months of June, July, and August. Additionally, a task force has been set up to review matters concerning Independent Power Producers (IPPs).

Tarar emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami's demands are consistent with the government's agenda, and while many issues have been resolved, further agreements are pending. Negotiations have been postponed until tomorrow, with another session planned for tomorrow evening.

The Information Minister also acknowledged Jamaat-e-Islami's democratic right to organize marches and confirmed that their arrested workers in Sialkot have been released. He reported that today's negotiations with Jamaat-e-Islami have seen substantial progress.
