Hollywood legend Christopher Plummer dies at 91
One of Hollywood’s last living legend, Christopher Plummer, passed away at the age of 91 on Friday, his family has confirmed.

The star of The Sound of Music was surrounded by his family at his home in Connecticut with his wife, actress, Elaine Taylor by his side. Plummer’s friend and long-time manager Lou Pitt told the media that the cause of death was a blow to the head as the result of a fall.
In a career spanning more than six decades, Plummer had amassed a kaleidoscope of work including dozens of titles from film, television and theatrer including The Sound of Music, Monte Carlo, A Beautiful Mind, Knives Out and Beginners, which one him his first Oscar in 2012, making him the oldest recipient of the coveted award.
Christopher Plummer was born in Canada in 1929. He made his theatrical debut on Broadway in 1953 in The Starcross Story. Plummer would go on to appear in many plays, garnering his first Tony nomination for J.B.
Thereafter followed a storied career of successes on Broadway and the West End. However, real fame came his way after The Sound of Music, a movie he came to despise along with his starring role of Captain Von Trapp. Later in his career, he said that he had made peace with the reverence fans hold for the musical.
Julie Christie, his co-star in the movie, was among the first Hollywood celebrities to pay tribute to the legendary actor, releasing a statement that said that she had lost a cherished friend. “I treasure the memories of our work together,” the statement added.
This is truly heartbreaking. What an unbelievable loss. Few careers have such longevity and impact. One of my favorite memories from Knives Out was playing piano together in the Thrombey house between set ups. He was a lovely man and a legendary talent. ??? https://t.co/eFwNVe762w

The Sound of Music is a sad one today as Christopher Plummer has left us today. He was giant of stage and screen, winner of an Academy Award for “Beginners.” He died at age 91 with his wife of 53 years, Elaine Taylor, by his side. Rest in eternal music, Captain Von Trapp.
