The relentless rains unleashed flash floods that destroyed homes, ruined crops
Lahore: Torrential rains have claimed at least eight lives and left several others injured in different regions across the country, as reported on Saturday night.
The heavy monsoon downpours hit Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Toba Achakzai, Qilla Abdullah, Ziarat, Pishin, Chaman, Jacobabad, Sukkur, Khairpur, and surrounding areas.
The relentless rains unleashed flash floods that destroyed homes, ruined crops, and wiped out roads and bridges. Several houses also suffered roof and wall collapses, leading to injuries in Balochistan, where at least 10 people were hurt.
In Chaman, flash floods washed away a railway track, while another was severely damaged in Noshki, disrupting rail connections between Pakistan and Iran.
Meanwhile, Lahore experienced scattered rainfall on Saturday, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicting more rain in the next 24 hours.
Faisalabad was hit by 131 millimeters of rain the previous day, which brought relief from the scorching heat but turned low-lying areas into waterlogged zones. Sukkur, too, was plunged into darkness after receiving 180mm of rain overnight.
