Islamabad: Pakistan and the Netherlands have emphasised the need to improve cooperation to stop human trafficking.
The Ambassador of the Netherlands Henny de Vries visited the Ministry of Interior where she was welcomed by the Minister of Interior Mohsin Naqvi.
In the meeting, issues of mutual interest including bilateral cooperation were discussed. The interior minister also congratulated the new government of the Netherlands and his counterpart.
The meeting emphasised the need to improve mutual cooperation to prevent human trafficking.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said: “Pakistan attaches great importance to the relations with the Netherlands. We want to increase relations with the Netherlands in various fields. There is a need to increase bilateral cooperation to stop human trafficking. Human smugglers are a huge mafia, no country can handle it alone”.
He stated that only joint measures can be effective against human trafficking. In this context, the Italian team will visit Pakistan soon.
During the meeting, it was agreed to increase cooperation for the care of Afghan refugees.
On this occasion, it was also agreed to increase cricket ties between Pakistan and the Netherlands. Mohsin Naqvi stated that they are preparing a plan to promote cricket with the Netherlands.
The Ambassador of the Netherlands congratulated Mohsin Naqvi on his nomination as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
She said that the promotion of cooperation in various fields, including sports, is of utmost importance. The promotion of cooperation in cricket will give the Netherlands team an opportunity to learn from Pakistan's experience.
Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Ali Agha, and Additional Secretary Interior Rifat Mukhtar Raja were also present on this occasion.
