K-Electric requests NEPRA to increase more power rates in Karachi
The company has sought an additional hike of Rs3.09 per unit under FPA July
Karachi: Just after a day an increase in electricity prices in Karachi, the Karachi Electric supply company on Thursday asked National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to increase electricity prices.
According to sources, the company has sought an additional hike of Rs3.09 per unit under the fuel price adjustment for the month of July. NEPRA is scheduled to hold a hearing on this request on August 29.
If approved, this increase will impose an additional burden of Rs. 6.2 billion on K-Electric consumers.
It's important to note that NEPRA has already approved electricity price hikes for K-Electric under the May and June adjustments, with an increase of Rs. 5.76 per unit. Just recently, NEPRA issued a notification to raise electricity prices for Karachi's consumers under two separate monthly adjustments.
