Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film ‘Emergency’ release faces difficulties
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Akal Takht have demanded a ban on the film

Mumbai: Bollywood actress and politician Kangana Ranaut's film ‘Emergency’ on Friday encountered the difficulties ahead of its release.
According to Indian media, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Akal Takht have demanded a ban on the film, alleging that it defames Sikhs and attempts to create a negative narrative against them.
In a press conference, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami stated that the Sikh community has been portrayed inaccurately in films before, hurting their sentiments. He accused the censor board of bias and called for an immediate ban on Emergency, while also demanding the inclusion of Sikh members in the censor board.
Akal Takht's Ragbir Singh also raised objections, claiming that the film deliberately depicts Sikhs as "separatists," which he described as part of a deeper conspiracy, adding that Kangana Ranaut's film insults the Sikh community.
It is worth mentioned that Kangana Ranaut had announced the film Emergency in 2021, clarifying that it is a political drama.
After several delays, the film is finally set to be released in cinemas on September 6.
