Imran appeals SC for early hearing of disqualification case
Petition that Imran Khan was barred from contesting the elections due to the decision of the ECP
Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan filed an application in the Supreme Court for the early hearing of the appeal on the issue of disqualification.
On behalf of Imran Khan, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court by Barrister Ali Zafar, in which it was argued that an attempt is being made to keep Imran Khan out of politics. Speaker National Assembly sent reference for disqualification of founder PTI on false allegation of not declaring gifts. After this, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) de-seated Imran Khan from Mianwali.
It has been said in the petition that Imran Khan was barred from contesting the elections due to the decision of the ECP. The larger bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) was hearing the appeal against the Election Commission, but the Islamabad High Court (IHC) refused to accept the request to withdraw the appeal.
It has been requested in the petition that because of the IHC order, the LHC Larger Bench did not proceed with the case, therefore the appeal against the decision of the IHC should be set for early hearing.
