Court adjourned the hearing on PTI founder's petition for acquittal till September 10

Islamabad: The Founder Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan sought concession in the 190-million-pound case after the decision of the Supreme Court on the case related to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendments.
The hearing of the £190 million reference against Imran Khan was held in Adiala Jail during which he filed an acquittal petition in the reference after the NAB amendment decision.
The lawyer of Imran Khan said that there is no point of 190 million pounds case after the NAB amendment decision. All the decisions of the cabinet are protected in the NAB amendments.
Imran Khan's lawyer stated that the question is whether after the NAB amendments, the accountability court has jurisdiction in this case or not.
The NAB prosecutor stated that if the court has jurisdiction in this case, then the plea of acquittal can be heard, to which PTI's lawyer said that they have not challenged the jurisdiction of the court, it is the discretion of the court to decide its authority.
The accountability court adjourned the hearing on PTI founder's petition for acquittal till September 10.
It is pertinent to note that yesterday the Supreme Court rejected Imran Khan's request to declare the NAB amendments null and void, approving the intra-court appeals of the federal and provincial governments, and reinstating the NAB amendments.
In the detailed judgment of the Supreme Court, it was said that the PTI founder could not satisfy the court regarding the annulment of the NAB amendments.
After the decision of the Supreme Court, Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Ali said that Khan got two advantages from the court decision in the NAB amendments, i.e. the second Toshakhana case cannot proceed against Imran Khan and the 190 million pound case also goes out of the accountability court's jurisdiction.
