Imran Khan nominates Salman Akram Raja as party’s secretary general
Decision was made after Omer Ayub’s resignation accepted by PTI founder
Islamabad: In a significant move, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has nominated Salman Akram Raja as the party's secretary general.
Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan, earlier, tendered his resignation to the party’s founder, saying he was unable to handle the responsibility. His resignation was accepted.
On acceptance of his resignation, Ayub extended his gratitude to the party founder Imran Khan.
According to GNN News, the incarcerated former prime minister has decided to separate political matters from parliamentary affairs.
Under the decision, Opposition Leader Omar Ayub and Senator Shibli Faraz will lead the parliamentary team, while Salman Akram will look after the practical political matters being the secretary general of the party.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan has also directed to establish a think tank to oversee the issuance of white paper on the government’s performance. This think tank will be led by party spokesperson Raoof Hassan.
