Imran Khan's appeal for acquittal in £190mn reference rejected
Decision on Bushra Bibi's bail application for 190 million pounds is already attached to the main reference
Islamabad: The Accountability Court of Islamabad Thursday rejected the plea of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the 190-million-pound reference.
The reference was heard by Judge Nasir Javed Rana of the Accountability Court in Adiala Jail.
It is pertinent to note that the decision on Bushra Bibi's bail application for 190 million pounds is already attached to the main reference.
Background
Notably, in the 190 million pounds Al-Qadir Trust case, it is alleged that Imran Khan and his wife acquired billions of rupees and hundreds of kanals land from Bahria Town Limited in return for legitimizing the 50 billion rupees sent to the government of Pakistan by the British National Crime Agency (NCA) during the PTI regime.
The case relates to the alleged illegal acquisition and construction of land for Al-Qadir University, which involved a £140 million money laundering case against Malik Riaz and his family by the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) and unlawful gain was obtained in recovery.
Imran Khan is also alleged to have misled the cabinet by concealing the facts regarding the settlement agreement. The amount £140 million was received under the settlement agreement and was to be deposited in the national exchequer. But it was adjusted to recover Rs450 billion dues of Bahria Town Karachi.
