JUI rejects government's proposed Constitutional Amendment draft
JUI-F chief says the draft provided to them was unacceptable
Islamabad: Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday said that the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) has rejected the government’s proposed constitutional amendment draft.
After a meeting with a delegation from the opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), JUI-F chief stated that the draft provided to them was unacceptable under any circumstances.
"Supporting this proposed draft would be a betrayal to the country and the nation," he emphasized, adding that the government has now also claimed that this draft was never theirs.
On this occasion, former Speaker and PTI leader Asad Qaiser said that the opposition has decided to move forward with matters through consultation.
