Lahore High Court annulled Ghulam Mohiuddin's detention and ordered his release


Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) declared the detention of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member Azad Kashmir Assembly Ghulam Mohiuddin null and void and ordered his release.
According to the details, Justice Asjad Javed Gharal heard the petition of Ghulam Mohiuddin's wife Saba Dewan. Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq and Rana Maroof Advocate appeared on behalf of the petitioner.
During the hearing, the Lahore High Court expressed indignation at the response of the Punjab government.
The lawyer of the Punjab government said: “We have fixed the petition of the petitioner for Monday”. The court inquired what material do you have as a justification for the detention.
Later, the Lahore High Court annulled Ghulam Mohiuddin's detention and ordered his release.
It is pertinent to note that on September 18, the detention of PTI member Azad Kashmir Assembly Ghulam Mohiuddin was challenged in the LHC.
The petition was filed by Ghulam Mohiuddin's wife Saba Dewan through the mediation of Mian Ali Ashfaq, in which the Punjab government, Deputy Commissioner Lahore, and the Jail Superintendent have been made parties.
The petition took the stand that Ghulam Mohiuddin is a member of Azad Kashmir Assembly and a law-abiding person, his detention is in clear violation of Article 9 of the Constitution.
It has been further stated that the detention of Ghulam Mohiuddin was done politically, the action of the Deputy Commissioner is illegal.
It has been requested in the petition that Ghulam Mohiuddin be ordered to appear before the court and that his detention orders be suspended and his release ordered.
On September 17, Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly member and PTI leader Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan was allegedly abducted.
