Another ECP meeting on reserved seats ends without decision

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) held yet another meeting on Monday regarding the reserved seats, but no decision was made.

Chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, the meeting was attended by ECP members, senior officials, and the legal team. According to sources, the consultation process with legal experts will continue.

It's worth noting that the ECP has failed to reach a decision on this matter in several previous meetings.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had ruled that the reserved seats should be allocated to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). In a detailed 70-page judgement issued by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, the apex court affirmed that PTI, which participated in the February 8 elections and won seats, is entitled to the reserved seats.

On September 14, an eight-member bench dismissed the ECP's petition, calling it a "delaying tactic." The court ordered the ECP to notify the PTI’s winning candidates for the reserved seats in the National Assembly.
