10 persons involved in sales tax evasion in the Hyderabad region have been arrested
Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue arrested 10 people for causing damage of Rs6 billion to the national exchequer.
Chief Commissioner Land Revenue Dr Khalid Malik said that action will continue against those who evade sales tax by evading taxes and making fake invoices.
Addressing a seminar at the Regional Tax Office Hyderabad, Chief Commissioner Land Revenue stated that after the enforcement of the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR), there has been a significant reduction in sales tax evasion and fake invoices. Since July 2023, 10 persons involved in sales tax evasion in the Hyderabad region have been arrested and recovered Rs100 million while more cases are in progress.
He added that the owners of some companies create fake companies to make transactions and show false figures of cost in the manufacturing of products in the lure of higher profits, which causes a loss of billions of rupees to the national exchequer. Those who do will be dealt with severely.
