Court seeks NAB report regarding jurisdiction of Toshakhana vehicles case
Court adjourned the hearing on the reference till October 30
Islamabad: The Accountability Court of Islamabad sought a report from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) regarding the jurisdiction of the reference on the upcoming hearing in the reference of Toshakhana vehicles.
Accountability Court judge Abida Sajjad heard the reference against President Asif Ali Zardari, Yusuf Raza Gilani and Nawaz Sharif related to Tosha Khana vehicles. Zardari and Gilani's lawyer Arshad Tabraiz while Nawaz Sharif's lawyer Qazi Misbah and pleader Rana Irfan appeared in the accountability court.
During the hearing, lawyer Qazi Misbah objected to the jurisdiction of the reference after the Supreme Court NAB amendment decision.
Nawaz Sharif's lawyer said in arguments that the reference to Toshakhana vehicles was sent back to NAB on December 21, 2022. The Supreme Court issued a recent decision on NAB amendments, after which the jurisdiction of the NAB reference is not in the current court.
Lawyer Qazi Misbah requested that the reference be sent back to NAB after the decision of the Supreme Court.
The accountability court adjourned the hearing on the reference till October 30, directing the defense lawyer to submit the application related to the jurisdiction.
