PM Shehbaz requests President Biden to release Dr Aafia on humanitarian grounds
Dr Aafia has been incarcerated in FMC Carswell since September 2010
Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has urged US President Joe Biden to pardon and release Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
In a letter, the premier stated that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui had been sentenced to 86 years in prison by a US District Court. As PM, he believes it is his responsibility to intervene in this matter.
Sharif urged President Biden to use his constitutional authority to grant a pardon and order her release on humanitarian grounds.
He further mentioned that Dr Aafia Siddiqui's family, along with millions of Pakistanis, are awaiting this act of kindness.
