Punjab DCs authorized to impose Section 144
Govt amended the Code of Criminal Procedure in 1898

Lahore: The government of Punjab has authorized Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to implement Section 144 in the province.
According to the Gazette notification, the Deputy Commissioners will be able to apply Section 144 in their district for 30 days as needed.
According to the notification, the Secretary Home Punjab has the authority to implement Section 144 for 90 days.
The cabinet will have the option of implementing Section 144 for more than 90 days.
The Punjab Government amended the Code of Criminal Procedure in 1898.
