Currently total number of judges in SC is 17

Islamabad: The government has decided to increase the number of judges in the Supreme Court (SC) from 17 to 23.
The SC will be consisting of 23 judges including Chief Justice of Pakistan and the bill regarding the increment in number of judges from 17 to 23 will be presented in the National Assembly on Nov 1 (Friday).
For the approval of the bill the duration of NA session which was supposed to end today (on Tuesday) has been extended till Friday.
According to sources, the amendments to the Practice and Procedure Act are also under discussion.
