AR Rahman, wife separate after 30 years
“Saira Bano took this decision due to a breakdown in the relationship”

Mumbai: Saira Bano, the wife of Oscar and Grammy award-winning Indian musician and singer Allah Rakha Rahman, has separated after 30 years of marriage.
According to a report by Indian broadcaster NDTV, Saira Bano announced that she made a difficult decision to separate from her husband, the Oscar-award-winning musician.
A statement regarding the separation was issued by the lawyers of AR Rahman’s wife.
They said, “Saira Bano took this decision due to a breakdown in the relationship”.
“Despite their deep love for each other, a great distance had developed between the couple due to bitterness and difficulties, which both were unable to overcome,” they added.
The statement further said that Saira took this decision due to grief and anguish. She requests the public to take care of her privacy and emotions during this difficult time.
It is pertinent to note that AR Rahman and Saira Bano were married in 1995 and have three children named Khadija, Rahima, and Amin.
Their son Amin wrote in his story on the social website Instagram, ‘We request everyone to take care of our privacy at this time’.
Notably, the Oscar-award-winning Indian musician Allah Rakha, popularly known as AR Rahman, was born in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The musician was born in a Hindu family and his parents later converted to Islam.
AR Rahman has composed music for at least 100 world-class songs.
In addition, he is the only musician and showbiz personality from India who has received the highest award in the film world, the Oscar, while he is the only Indian to have won high awards like BAFTA and Golden Globe multiple times.
