She stated that only the police weapons were used in the attacks on Punjab Police by the protesters
Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz strongly condemned the attack on police personnel by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers.
Maryam Nawaz has expressed deep grief over the shooting at police personnel by protestors and said that it is regrettable that more than 20 police personnel including the Senior Superintendent (SP), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), and Station House Officer (SHO) were injured in the attacks. Short machine guns, tear gas, knives, masks, etc. were also seen with the protesters.
She stated that only the police weapons were used in the attacks on Punjab Police by the protesters. The firing was carried out in Ghazi Barutha, Mianwali, Hazara Motorway, and other places. Punjab Police had been kept unarmed earlier to avoid clashes and are still unarmed.
Maryam Nawaz added that in the previous protest, a constable was martyred and more than 25 were injured. The attack of one province's police on another province using government resources is tantamount to tearing apart national unity. What kind of protest is this where government resources are being used? Instead of a protest, this movement is a form of armed terrorism.
