Protesters opened fire, hurled shells on police: RPO Rawalpindi
He stated that 1,151 suspects have been arrested in 32 cases
Rawalpindi: The Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters fired directly at the police and hurled tear gas shells.
RPO Rawalpindi and other senior officers said in a press conference that 170 personnel of Rawalpindi Division were injured in the violence, 24 of whom are in critical condition.
He stated that 1,151 suspects have been arrested in 32 cases, 64 of whom are Afghan citizens.
The officer added that PTI protesters fired directly at the police at Hakla, and the police showed patience.
RPO Rawalpindi said that 32 cases were registered in Rawalpindi region. 11 police vehicles were damaged, and when the police stopped them, the protesters resorted to violence.
