Islamabad: The federal government has increased the per litre price of petrol and high speed diesel (HSD).

According to a notification, the price of petrol has increased by Rs2 and HSD by Rs1.44. The decision was taken soon after the passing of the federal budget and finance bill by the government amid uproar of the Opposition.
Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan on Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill said in a tweet that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had recommended Rs6.05 increase in the per litre price in the wake of upward trend in the international oil prices, but the prime minister allowed only Rs2 per litre increase.
He further said the OGRA had proposed Rs3.44 increase in the per litre price of HSD.
A notification issued by the Ministry of Finance said that kerosene oil would see an increase of Rs3.86, whereas light diesel oil would go up by Rs3.72.
The price of petrol will be Rs112.69 per litre and that of HSD will be Rs113.99 per litre starting July 1 (tomorrow).
