Fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, world leaders react to new situation in Syria

Damascus: The Assad family's more than 50-year rule ended after rebels seized the capital in Syria, taking control of state TV, radio, and the Ministry of Defense buildings.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the end of the authoritarian regime in Damascus and called for reconstruction in the country after the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime.

On the latest situation in Syria, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called for ensuring peace and stability, saying that the Syrian people have suffered a lot for a long time under Bashar al-Assad, and we welcome the end of Bashar al-Assad's government.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had called for political dialogue between the Bashar al-Assad regime and Syrian opposition groups in a statement yesterday.
