12 people were killed, four were injured in powerful explosion at ammunition factory


Ankara: A massive explosion at an ammunition factory in the outskirts of the Keresi district of the Turkish province of Balikesir shook the entire area and sent flames soaring to the sky.
According to the international news agency, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said that 12 people were killed and four were injured in the powerful explosion at the ammunition factory.
He added that the injured are being provided medical assistance at a nearby hospital and their condition is now out of danger.
The Interior Minister further said that the reason of the explosion at the ammunition factory is not yet ascertained. However, he said that an inquiry committee has been formed.
He described it as an accident and said that there was no element of terrorism in the incident, however, the inquiry is ongoing.
