Punjab to soon get Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines, tells Dr Yasmin Rashid
Lahore: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid Thursday said that cleanliness is key to preventing epidemics and diseases and focused efforts are being made to keep the city clean and green.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony of 6,000 containers of the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) at Outfall Road, the Health Minister said that cleanliness in Lahore is being specifically monitored on directions from Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.
The Health Minister said, “We are continuously monitoring the cleanliness of Lahore under directions from Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar. The government has made available all resources required for the purpose. Over 3000 people have been hired in the LWMC.
The new 6000 containers have been bought for Lahore and will be placed at key spots in the city.
While appealing to the citizens, LWMC CEO Ms Rafia requested people to throw waste only in designated containers and not on roads.
“LWMC is conducting night sweeping operations. We are trying to keep clean the city having a population of over 12 million. For Lahore, 2000 carts have been procured. Due to excessive load, another dumping site in Lahore is being developed,” she added.
Speaking on the vaccination process, Dr Rashid said adequate stock of vaccination is available in Punjab while the province is getting 1.3 million vaccine doses.
She said no major AEFI incidents have been reported in Punjab and another consignment of AstraZeneca is arriving in Punjab shortly.
People having travel documents including Aqama can get vaccinated.
“There is no shortage of vaccines in Punjab. Pakistan has procured over 70% of vaccines from its resources and is also receiving Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines.”
Sinopharm and Sinovac are approved vaccines by global bodies and the Foreign office is talking to the US and Saudi Arabia on this issue.
Punjab has vaccinated around 8.5 million people so far, she told.
