Punjab Police sets security plan for peace on New Year's Eve
IG Punjab ordered to ensure coordinated traffic arrangements on New Year's Night
Lahore: Punjab Police has prepared a security plan to ensure peace and order on New Year's Eve.
According to police spokesperson, more than 25,000 police officers and personnel will be deployed on security duty across the province, including Lahore, on the New Year. 395 inspectors, 1,125 sub-inspectors, 2,060 ASIs, 1,310 head constables, and 18,759 constables and other personnel will be on duty.
The spokesperson said that more than 5,000 officers and personnel will be deployed on security duty in Lahore. All activities will be monitored with the help of CCTV cameras across the province, including Lahore. IG Punjab has directed the police to remain on high alert and closely watch anti-national elements.
Inspector General Punjab Dr Usman Anwar said that one-wheeling, aerial firing, and rioting will not be allowed on New Year's Eve. Miscreants who harass women and citizens will be taken into custody.
IG Punjab ordered to ensure coordinated traffic arrangements on New Year's Night and said that Dolphin Squad, Peru, Elite Force, and PHP teams should increase patrolling on roads and highways. Search and sweep operations should be continued regularly in all cities including Lahore, and bail bonds should be taken from the accused of last year's record one-wheelers and aerial firing.
Dr Usman Anwar further said that CCPO Lahore, RPOs, and DPOs should supervise all arrangements themselves to maintain law and order. All district traffic officers including CTO Lahore should deploy additional personnel to maintain traffic flow. Citizens should report one-wheelers, weapons display, and aerial firing on 15.
